At No Cost to You
Due to the severe dangers some pressure equipment poses, many states, cities and provinces now impose strict regulations to ensure operating integrity. There are inspection obligations to be met and jurisdictional operating certifications to be maintained. This is where Mutual Boiler Re, as a member of the FM Global Group, serves our partner companies well.
As our valued partner company, any required boiler and/or pressure vessel inspections are performed at no cost to you by a licensed FM Global inspector—saving policyholders the expense of having local authorities perform these duties.
Our skilled inspectors are trained on the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes governing boiler and pressure vessel construction, installation and operation. They are certified by examination and commissioned by the National Board of Boilers and Pressure Vessels Inspectors.
Our inspectors:
- Perform internal/external pressure-vessel inspections and witness the testing of safety devices.
- Provide detailed inspection reports to insureds and the proper authorities.
- Complete special inspections for mine operation vessels as required by the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
- Accept repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels performed by certified repair companies in accordance with jurisdictional codes and regulations.
- Keep up-to-date on the reporting requirements of the various jurisdictions.
Jurisdictional laws and regulations vary from area to area. Equipment typically requiring regular inspection and certification include:
- Air tanks
- Heat exchangers
- Heating boiler
- Hot water heaters
- Process boiler
- Refrigeration vessels
These inspections are provided as part of your insurance coverage, eliminating the need for and payment to the jurisdictional authorities to conduct these inspections. Certificate fees billed by the jurisdictional authorities directly to the insured client are the responsibility of the insured client to issue payment.
In the following U.S. jurisdictions, where the certificate fee is billed directly to the insurance company, Mutual Boiler Re pays these fees for you—an added benefit of partnering with us: California; Hawaii; Kentucky; New Jersey; New York; South Dakota; Vermont; West Virginia; New Orleans, Louisiana; New York City, New York; and Omaha, Nebraska.
