Rick M. Gillen Operations Senior Vice President
An employee of Mutual Boiler Re since 1997, Rick boasts experience as vice president, corporate reinsurance manager, reinsurance executive and underwriting specialist prior to his current role. Leading the management team, he challenges them on a daily basis to do whatever it takes to deliver for our partner companies. A veteran of the industry, his day-to-day duties include ongoing coaching, professional training and career development. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Public Affairs from West Chester University.
Michael J. Devlin Operations Vice President, Corporate Reinsurance Manager
Mike leads the delivery of services Mutual Boiler Re provides to partner companies across North America. Piloting a team of territory managers, this 20-year industry expert facilitates efficient customer support and execution of servicing plans for new and existing partner companies, as well as seamless communication and coordination. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University.
James J. Callahan Operations Vice President, Claims Manager
Jim manages Mutual Boiler Re’s largest team of employees and oversees all claims handling and adjusting. He joined Mutual Boiler Re in 2007, and has an extensive background in claims including numerous years of claims adjustment experience as well as Associate in Claims (AIC) and Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA) designations. Jim graduated from Eastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Mary E. Menkins Operations Vice President, Underwriting Manager
Mary oversees all underwriting activity, including portfolio pricing, forms development, referral processing, and rate and forms filing support. Mary joined Mutual Boiler Re in 2000 with a strong financial background that attributed to her success in her previous role as accounting and administrative manager. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Albright College.
Dirk P. Smith Operations Vice President, Engineering Manager
Dirk is in charge of building the company’s equipment breakdown expertise and providing jurisdictional inspection services. Dirk joined FM Global as a loss prevention engineer, then worked as a National Board commissioned inspector of boiler and pressure vessels, an equipment hazard engineer, a facility hazard engineer and then, Operations Chief Inspector for FM Global’s New York operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Jonathan A. Brislin Operations Vice President, New Business Development Manager
Jonathan Brislin is responsible for facilitating new equipment breakdown partnerships for Mutual Boiler Re. He joined the company in 2013 with more than 20 years of industry knowledge and experience. Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Concordia College and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. He also holds the following insurance designations: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe).
Stephen M. Konopelski Operations Vice President, Information Technology Manager
Steve provides strategic technological leadership in the management and distribution of information. Steve joined FM Global in 1993 as an information specialist. He has held several other positions with the company, including senior information specialist. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Drexel University.
Mark A. Smith Assistant Vice President, Assistant Reinsurance Manager
Mark oversees relationships in the Midwest region. With more than 25 years of equipment breakdown experience, his background includes property loss control, underwriting, marketing, training and development. Mark earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University and his MBA from the University of Phoenix. He also holds the following insurance designations: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Management (AIM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe).
Brian M. Olshefski Assistant Vice President, Assistant Claims Manager
Brian facilitates the claims adjustment process, develops internal training processes and manages the claims team. Brian joined Mutual Boiler Re in 2011 as a claims examiner following years of experience in the insurance industry. He earned his Bachelor degree from Alvernia College and holds an Associate in Claims (AIC) designation.
Melissa S. Boyer Accounting and Administrative Manager
Melissa is responsible for the overseeing of administration and accounting activities at Mutual Boiler Re. Prior to joining the company in 2011, she worked in insurance and financial industry marketing. She graduated from Albright College with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications.
Rebecca S. Davis Processing Manager
Becky oversees all processing activities, including the consistent and efficient policy production and processing of both equipment breakdown insurance and reinsurance business. Prior to Mutual Boiler Re, Becky was in client services, systems development, quality evaluation and policy processing. She holds a Master’s degree in Management from Pennsylvania State University and has earned her Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) certification.
